"I asked the rock beside the road what joy existence lent,
It answered, "For a million years my heart has been content;"
I asked an angel, looking down on earth with gaze intent,
How man should rise to larger growth. Quoth he: "Through discontent."

Hi Matt,
it's kind of like the saying - necessity is the mother of invention. When we see the injustice in our world, the discontent it produces motivates us to act and through action comes growth.

Hi Fred:)

Lovely quote.

Discontent is important to improve ourselves both materially and mentally. It is only when we get into a comfort zone of contentment we achieve no progress and development. If we stand in one one place like the rock, we will not go forward and remain in the same place and accumulate debris. We have to guard ourselves every day against getting into a comfort zone. What was good yesterday may not be good today. We have to question every thing that we did yesterday and find out better methods of doing the same thing today. Only then we will progress and prosper.

Recently I saw an advertisement--WHY DO THE DONE, DO THE NEW.

Best wishes Fred:)

Hi Joseph,
I think your comments hit the nail on the head. And that last quote from an advertisement is a great illustration.
God bless,
Fred
