So, last Sunday I shared a few thoughts at the nursing home about the following scriptures –
Luke 24:13-16 where on the road to Emmaus the two were joined by Jesus but their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.

Also Isaiah; 45:15 “Truly thou art a God who hides Himself.”
And 1 Samuel 3: 1-8 where the boy Samuel heard the voice of God 4 times before he recognized Him.
And John. 20:15,16 where Mary beheld Jesus and did not know who it was.
And lastly, Luke. 24:28 Where Jesus acted as though he would go on farther as the two travelers with him were going into their home.
There is mystery in these scriptures, as well as many others along the same theme. So, got any ideas?

I read this the first time a couple of days ago. It ties in beautifully with the Brian McLaren books I'm reading right now. The Kingdom of God and the secret message of Jesus are like hidden treasures that are meant to be sought after, searched out, hungered for, yearned for, prayed for. You raise great questions! And God knows the answers, and is able to reveal those answers to the hearts of all earnest seekers.
Has life ever been so exciting as it is right now? Has the air ever sparkled more than it does right now? I've never been so happy or so excited to be alive, even with all of life's troubles, as I am right this moment. And you and my other blogging friends are a huge part of that. Keep these excellent posts coming, Fred! Every time I see that you've posted something new, I feel like a kid in a candy store. :)

This is a mystery to me also.
My knowledge of Bible is not as deep as yours and therefore, I am less likely to figure it out.
In my opinion when God calls us we are not able to hear Him because we are immersed in our own thoughts and worries and problems.
Sometimes we see through our friends and pass in front of them without recognizing them because we are thinking of something else.
This ia not not an explanation but just a thought which came to my mind.

Has life ever been so exciting as it is right now?, Hmmmm, sitting here with aches and pains, a cataract in one eye, high blood pressure and difficulty sleeping, I’d have to say this isn’t my high point:) but spiritually it is rich, so who’s complaining?
And no question our blogging fellowship sparkels if the air doesn't. I'm glad you are glee filled becasue it spills over.

I had similar thoughts as yours and no doubt that is part of it.
The thought that struck me was in Luke it says that when Jesus "acted" as though he was going to travel on, they urged him to stay. I think when Mel said God wants -
"to be sought after, searched out, hungered for, yearned for, prayed for" that may well be a part of it as well. Whatever the answer is that was the direction I took and it seemed to be confirmed by many of the parables Jesus taught. The unjust judge for example. No question we worship a God of mystery and it is our pleasure to seek Him and enjoy Him forever.
